Emilie Halpern
California
Born in Paris, Emilie Halpern resides in Los Angeles, where she received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1998, and her Master of Fine Arts from Art Center College
of Design in Pasadena, California, in 2002. Her art has been exhibited at numerous galleries and museums including Blum and Poe (Los Angeles), Leo Koenig Gallery (New York), Yokohama Museum of Art (Japan), Kunstraum Innsbruck (Austria).
She’s a conceptual artist who makes installation art, sculptures, and photographs. She began working in ceramics 15 years ago as a counterpoint to her conceptual practice. With ceramics, she reconnected to the joy of making, and found a more process oriented practice. Her pottery is influenced by her Japanese heritage.
